Happy Birthday To Me!!

A New Year of Me: Embracing Growth, Self-Care, and the Beauty of Aging

Another year around the sun, and here I am, stepping into 38 with open arms, a full heart, and an even fuller cup of coffee. Birthdays have a funny way of making you pause and take stock of life—not in a "Where should I be by now?" way, but in a "Wow, look at how far I’ve come" way.

For a long time, I measured my milestones by external achievements: career growth, family, checking things off some invisible life checklist. And while all of those things matter, this year, I’m embracing a different kind of milestone—the art of taking care of me.

Giving Myself Permission

As a mother of two, a wife, and someone who’s always juggled responsibilities with precision, the idea of self-care once felt like a luxury. But let’s be real—self-care is not indulgent, it’s necessary. This year, I’ve committed to showing up for myself in ways I never have before. I’m embracing new things, from cycling, to building this blog (a passion project I finally made time for). I’m learning to invest in myself unapologetically—without guilt, without justification, without waiting for permission.

Aging with Intention

Society loves to tell women that getting older means fading into the background. That we should cling to our youth like it’s slipping through our fingers.... but here’s the truth: I have never felt more in tune with who I am than I do right now. With every year, I’m refining, evolving, and shedding the expectations that don’t serve me. I don’t mourn the years gone by—I celebrate them, because they have made me the woman I am today.

While we're here, let’s talk about taking care of ourselves as we age. It’s not about chasing an aesthetic, it’s about honoring our bodies, our minds, and our peace. Working out isn’t just about looking good; it’s about feeling good, having energy, and knowing I’m strong. Eating right isn’t about restriction; it’s about fueling myself with things that make me thrive. And de-stressing? That’s a non-negotiable. Stress is not a badge of honor—it’s a thief of joy, and I’m done letting it rob me.

You Deserve This Too

I know I’m not alone in this journey. Whether you’re a mom, a traveler finding joy in new experiences, or simply someone trying to unlearn the guilt around putting yourself first—this is your reminder that you deserve care too. You are not selfish for prioritizing your wellness, your happiness, or your peace. You are not behind. You are not late. You are exactly where you’re meant to be, and every day is a chance to move forward with intention.

So here’s to 38. To growth. To community. To showing up for ourselves and each other in ways that fill us up, not drain us. If you need permission to do the same—take it from me. You’re worth it.

What’s something you’re doing just for YOU this year? Drop it in the comments—I’d love to celebrate it with you!
